This morning I came across an article about two cool-looking horror-themed video games that are coming out this fall. The thing that immediately stood out about them to me, besides the fact that they look cool, is that Spooky Pinball has already made a pinball machine based on one of the themes and it has been heavily rumored to be working on a game based on the other.
Yesterday, Boss Team games, maker of the popular Shantae series of video games, announced that it is creating two 90s-style video games based on horror franchises – John Carpenter’s Halloween and the Starz TV show Ash Vs. Evil Dead. Both games look retro and awesome. The trailer even shows them off in faux arcade cabinets (which I assume are just virtual). The Halloween one reminds me of the 1988 Namco classic Splatterhouse.
The fact that a new video game based on it is in development may add a little fuel to the fire of the long-rumored Spooky Pinball title based on Evil Dead. At the very least, these upcoming retro-style games look very cool.
