CHALLENGES ON ANTSTREAM FOR HARDCORE RETRO GAMERS
Challenges and achievements are a huge part of today’s gaming experience, even for retro gamers.
AntStream Arcade hasn’t left their clients out of the party either, as
the service has tons of amazing and fun challenges for their players to enjoy. In this exclusive list, we break down 10 amazing challenges for 10 of the most popular games on the platform.
Now the real question is: Can you conquer these challenges?
Bubble Bobble: This game is an absolute classic and continues to be played to this day by tons of players. It’s crazy to think it was released way back in 1986, but Bub and Bob are still fighting that wizard! The things a man will do to save their girlfriend.
Challenge: Fire, Water, Thunder &... Bubble?: This may be the toughest one on this entire list! Normal bubbles are worth a point, fire
two, water three, electric four. How many points can you obtain in three minutes and five lives?
The New Zealand Story: This blast from the past platformer/shooter was originally released in arcades by Taito in 1988 and can be played on a variety of consoles, but we’re

absolutely partial to the arcade version on the AntStream!
Challenge: New One Chance Story: Tiki the Kiwi needs your help earning points in this one- life challenge. How far can you progress in this more-difficult- than-it-looks platform game?
Space Invaders: The shooter that took the arcades by storm and changed video games forever is available in its original glory on the AntStream. Whether you’re a first- time player or a grizzled veteran, this is a must-play.
Challenge: Alien Ambush: How many points can you score with one life?
Lode Runner: Since its original release in 1983, Lode Runner has garnered a cult following and a bevy of remakes on a variety of consoles. While they all have a special place in our hearts, the original is easily still the most enjoyable and accessible.
Challenge: Running High: Earn as many points as possible with one life in this tricky platformer.
Writer’s Note: This may seem similar to the challenge for Space Invaders, but all you have to do
is play both of these games to understand just how much harder it is to survive in Lode Runner.
The Burning Fight: This 1991 SNK beat-em-up is still a blast and with multi-player options, is a great go-to with friends or alone. Help Duke and Billy kick some Japanese Syndicate butt!
Challenge: Feel the Burn: Take your burning passion to the streets and earn a high score by defeating enemies and picking up treasures from random damaged objects. Keep the fight going in this one-life challenge.
Acrobatic Dog-Fight: Released way back in 1984, this arcade dogfight- sim from Technos is deceptive. It looks like a kid’s game but it gets frenetic pretty quickly. How long can you survive?
