Madness with some cool music sense to it, tell me more.
David: Retro Ninja, AKA Tony Barnes, a 35-year gaming veteran, started his own independent Studio, and BPM Boy is one of his first releases. It’s an homage to his mother’s love of Marble Madness, being a big fan of it in the arcades. This is his love letter to her.
OSG: Sentinels of Atlantis looks similar to the Imagic game Atlantis.
David: Michael Greenhuts - I helped him with some ideas to expand the gameplay, so it’s much more expanded. In gameplay, you’ll see the elements of
the classic Atlantis, but it’s much bigger and broader
in scope. You have a map, you have to defend all of Atlantis, and you go to these cities which is very similar to Atlantis, but it does get changed a little bit from each city.
OSG: OK, How about Super 3D Maze 16?
needed to figure out how to get the DLCs to the VCS owners. So, the deal that we struck for VCS users is they’re going to get those two DLCs, Wider World of Atari and The First Console War, for free, but the compromise is that they have to wait until around Christmas.
OSG: From what you explained to me, it’s a rather large update, and users will need to upgrade the storage either with a USB 3.1 compatible memory stick or with an M.2 SATA expansion. Anyways, thank you David for giving us a quick update on the Atari VCS!
Yes, I as the publisher of Old School Gamer, I’m a fanboy of the VCS and was sent a review unit by their staff, but I have turned around and purchased a nice helping of their Recharged series of games, installed Antstream onto it, have the Atari 50 on it and more, so I went ahead and did the upgrade the unit which takes about
5 minutes once I had the right screwdriver and drive purchased from Amazon for $20. Look for videos online on doing this upgrade and get your VCS ready for the mega download coming soon for those of you that have this ultimate Atari combination of the VCS with the Atari 50 release!
David: JD Productions, who also created Superstar Shooter 16, created this crazy maze game with a storyline! You wander a maze and, as part of the gameplay, change perspectives from overhead to first person. I’m a sucker for mazes. I love the 2600 Maze Craze. It is one of my favorite games, but I have never had anyone to play with it. JD’s Super 3D Maze is very psychedelic, almost Jeff Minter-esque. You do get a warning if you do have seizures. This will be flashy,
but it’s very interesting. You are something like a lost astronaut, an explorer, and there’s a narrator who comes in and tells this mystery story as you’re wandering.
OSG: The last game for you to update us on is Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration, which was released on every platform, including the Atari VCS. There is some special stuff coming based on it.
David: Atari 50 is one of our landmark productions. It is a video game compilation and interactive documentary developed by Digital Eclipse to commemorate the company’s 50th anniversary. Right around Christmas, there will be a free update for the Atari VCS.
Now, the VCS doesn’t have a DLC mechanism in the storefront, something we are working on it, so we
