My fondest memories of the Intellivision were when I was 12. My neighbor had an Intellivision at his house, and he always had me come over and play. By this time, the Intellivision was a few years old, and Nintendo and Sega were just starting the console wars. I
was on Team Sega and got the
Sega Master System when it came out. That same week, my friend, who loved Intellivision, would compete with me each week on the better console. We would compare graphics, sound, gameplay, and other gaming features. It became a weekly thing we documented, and
I wish we would have kept them all these years. I will always remember that year and cherish the memories.

It was the first video game console I ever played, as my parents had one in the house, and I started playing it around age 7 or 8 (in 1985-86). We had many games, but the ones
I really loved were Astrosmash, Space Armada, and Night Stalker, which were so fun and addictive that I could (and did) play them for countless hours. I also enjoyed games like Skiing, Sub Hunt,
Sea Battle, and Triple Action, but nothing struck my fancy like those first three games did. In any case, my time with the console ended
up being relatively brief, as we got a Nintendo in 1987, and with only one TV in the house to hook it up to, my dad gave my brothers and me a choice between the NES and the Intellivision. So of course, the Intellivision got junked (my dad
literally threw it out). But it was great fun while it lasted, and as an adult, I later re-acquired one, so now I can still enjoy those classic games from time to time!

I had a Tandyvision One, which was Radio Shack’s clone of the Intellivision, released in 1982. It was basically identical, except
that it said “Tandyvision One” and “Radio Shack” and the faux wood paneling was on the top, instead
of the sides. It was my very first console. While I already had an Apple II computer, the games that I had on the Tandyvision were a lot more interactive and great for two players. I have great memories of playing Snafu and Reversi with my dad when I was maybe eight years old. I would almost always lose while playing Snafu, but I could beat my dad in Reversi about half the time! I also remember being surprised at how Donkey Kong on my Tandyvision wasn’t
as good as the Donkey Kong on my friend’s Atari 2600. The controllers eventually stopped working and the system got trashed, but my memories are still with me.

Back in 1980, when I was 14, my 16-year-old girlfriend had a car, which was awesome. Even better, her family had an Intellivision with games like Las Vegas Poker & Blackjack, NFL Football, NBA Basketball, and Major League
Baseball. Her dad and his friends would laugh uproariously playing these games. Although I was an Atari fan, I was impressed by Intellivision's realism. My true love for the console took hold in 1981 during a church-related sleepover. My junior high buddies and I
stayed up all night talking about girls, wrestling in the yard, eating too much, watching movies, and playing Intellivision. Our youth minister had the console and games like Astrosmash, Space Armada, and Star Strike. These shooter and sci-fi titles blew me away, and I've been a huge fan of the console ever since. Today, my “Mount Rushmore '' of favorite games for the console are Beauty & the Beast, Bump ‘n’ Jump, Diner, and Demon Attack.

The Intellivision was a console
that I did not grow up with. I had only one friend who had one, and he showed me some of the better games to play. In the early 90s, I came across one at a yard sale with many games. It was the original Intellivision model, and with it was about 20 games. I called my friend and he came over and we started playing. I enjoyed games such as Night Stalker, Demon Attack, and Lock N Chase but loved playing Burgertime. 30 years later, I still enjoy playing and collecting for
the console. I still own that console I picked up at a yard sale, and it works great!
